Activities to be held at Truman, Lewisville libraries

TRUMAN — Have you seen the Lewisville 125th anniversary/FUN DAZE schedule of events on Friday, June 19, and Saturday, June 20? It’s two days of events for all ages. You can also check Lewisville FUN DAZE on Facebook.

Friday, June 19, is Juneteenth. Federal, state, local government offices, financial institutions and postal services will be closed.

Happy Father’s Day to those important men who have been there for you. Be sure to thank that father for all his advice, knowledge and what he means to you.

Constellation Scandinavian music will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, at the Lewisville Fire Hall. Join us for the afternoon of Scandinavian music performed by an acoustic-folk-rock-punk-pop (and movie) duo from Grand Forks, N.D. Their songs are influenced by everything from old Irish folk music to modern-day punk.

Give the gift of life at the American Red Cross blood drive from noon to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23, at the Truman Community Building. Call Yvonne at (507) 776-8555 to make an appointment.

Plan ahead for new things at the Truman Library. Everyone is welcome at 3:30 p.m. on June 26, for sign language basic. From June 8 to Aug. 5 the summer reading program for kids is held. Special event this summer, zoo, magic show, 4-H presentations (fun activities). Come to the library and find out more about it. Hours are 1:30 -5:30 M-F or phone (507) 776-2717 with questions.

Trinity Lutheran Church in Truman is holding a salad luncheon from 11 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday, June 24. Enjoy salads, crackers, fresh fruit, veggie pizza, deviled eggs, egg salad and ham salad sandwiches, bars and beverages. Takeouts available. No deliveries. Adults $10, kids $3.

Come to the Lewisville library for Lego Club from 4 to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. Bring creativity. The library will supply Legos.

This fall in September, a girl scouts troop is coming to Truman and will convene at the Community Building on North First Ave West. Kelsey Giestfeld, will be the troop leader. Geistfeld can be reached at kelseydanae_93@hotmail.com. This is for grades kindergarten to 3. There is financial assistance to help with the annual registration fees. Once people sign up, she plans to start a chat group on Band.

Truman Active Living will host a farmers market this summer from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturdays, June 27, July 11, Aug. 1, 15, 29, Sept. 12 and 26, and Oct. 10 at a new location which will be right on Highway 15 on the north parking lot of the Truman Tavern. Garage sale forms are due Wednesday, July 1 with your $10 fee. Your fee will put you on the map and a listing of your items. Forms are available from Linda at 306 East 5th Street North, Denise at 234 North 2nd Avenue East and Casey’s in Truman. Return to Denise Lewison or Linda Meyer. Truman Swimming Pool is open from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. daily. Daily admission is $5. Punch card for 10 admissions is $45. Late night swim is $3. Water aerobics are Monday to Friday 5:30 to 6:30 pm. All summer long aerobics $60. Group/swimming lessons for beginners through level 6 is $75 per level. Monday-Thursday (eight days of lessons). The first round of the lessons will begin on Monday, June 15. New classes will start up every two weeks through the season. The Truman pool is available to rent for private parties from 8:30 to 11 p.m.
