Ceylon auction set for today

CEYLON — There will be an auction of farm equipment in Ceylon today at the former elevator site and the former football field. Social distancing is encouraged and masks are recommended. Masks indoors are mandated by the governor’s mask rule.

There will be some garage sales and food vendors in town too. Safety and common sense are asked of those attending events. Please be courteous and respect private property.

Ceylon Area Historical Society Museum will not be open today as previously reported.

Area churches continue their in-person services.

St. Peter Lutheran in Ceylon will have an 8:30 a.m. Sunday service. Waverly Lutheran will have Sunday service at 8:30 a.m. while Trinity in Welcome will have a 10:30 a.m. service. Our Savior’s Lutheran in Ceylon will have its usual 5:30 p.m. service tonight. Its dual congregation in Wilbert will have a service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Wilbert will have a service at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 2 to accommodate a visiting pastor.

All of the congregations are following social distancing and masks rules for COVID precautions.
