Woman facing felony charge

FAIRMONT — A former Sherburn woman is facing a felony charge in Martin County.

Sarah Jane Smith, 36, has been charged with knowingly violating registration requirements as a predatory offender, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to the complaint:

Smith is required to register as a predatory offender with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. As a predatory offender, Smith must complete a Change of Information form five days prior to moving or immediately after. On Feb. 12, Smith completed such a form with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office indicating her address was in the 200 block of West First Street in Sherburn.

Officers with the Sherburn/Welcome Police Department made multiple attempts to contact Smith at the residence since that time, but observed no new tracks in the snow nor tire tracks in the driveway. The police department was informed there was no connection to or gas use at the residence, nor was there water or electrical use.

No evidence was found that Smith was living at the residence since she had registered with the Sheriff’s Office, and it appeared no one has been living at the residence.

Smith’s current whereabouts are unknown.

Starting at $2.99/week.
