Mayo Mobile Clinic available June 1, 3

CEYLON — This is the last week of May, and the last week of school at Martin County West schools. There will be a Baccalaureate Service for seniors at 7 p.m. today, Wednesday, May 27, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dunnell. Graduation will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 29, at MCW High School in Sherburn. The last day of school with an early dismissal will be on Friday, May 29, for all MCW schools.

St. John’s will recognize their seniors during its service at 8 a.m. on Sunday, May 31. The seniors from St. Paul’s Wilbert church will be honored that Sunday at Wilbert’s 10 a.m. service.

Coffee Hours will be from 8:30 to 10 a.m. each Tuesday in June at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn. Join friends and neighbors for good coffee, treats and fellowship.

Condolences to the family of Delores “Dee” Kokan (nee Waldee) who passed away recently. She will be missed.

The Mayo Mobile Clinic will be available from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, June 1, and Wednesday, June 3, near the City Hall in Sherburn. Call the appointment number at (507) 238-8500 and mention the Sherburn Clinic.

The Sherburn City Council will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 1, at City Hall. There is always a time for public comments and questions at the beginning of each meeting. To be on the regular agenda, please call the City Hall at (507) 764-4491 prior to the meeting date.

St. John’s Friendship Club will meet at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 1, at Tami’s on the Ave in Fairmont at 11 a.m. Area residents are welcome to join them. Membership at St. John’s is not required. The Friendship Club will have a daytime bus trip to Iowa’s Plymouth Playhouse to see a sequel to the comedy Church Basement Ladies, “A Second Helping”. They will take the trip on July 18 and will have lunch before the play. The cost $120 per person, which includes the bus trip, lunch and matinee play. St. John’s is accepting registration for the Vacation Bible School for grades preschool and kindergarten, which will be June 8 to 12, and the Camp Omega Day Camp for grades first and sixth, which will be July 6 to 10. The Civic and Commerce Club will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 2, at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Sherburn. They would love to have new members. They have planted the large flower pots on Main Street. If anyone would like to help defray the cost with a free-will donation, it can be given to the members or mailed to Box 108, Sherburn, MN 56171. They would appreciate it.

The American Red Cross blood drives will be on June 2 and 3 at the Best Western in Fairmont,, on June 15 at the Sinn Family Celebration of Life Center in Trimont, on June 19 at the American Legion in Fairmont, and on June 29 at Truman Community Hall, St. Paul’s Community Church in Welcome and Trimont Covenant Church. Blood is needed every two seconds in the United States. The supply is low now, so give if you are eligible (ages 16 and up, weigh 110 or more and in good health). Thank you. Thank you to all volunteers that made the Memorial Day program great in Sherburn on Monday, May 25, by helping with the Avenue of Flags, the program and the picnic lunch. Your support was appreciated. The next event in Sherburn will be the festival on June 20, and the city-wide garage sales that weekend. Drop off a list of garage sale items and the address to be on the map. Bring the $10 dues and list to the Bank Midwest in Sherburn by June 15. The map will be at Casey’s and Bank Midwest that week.

Summer events will be at the Sherburn Library on 1st Street, near City Hall. Arts and Crafts will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays. Storytimes will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Watch for special events like 4H Adventure on June 11 and Sustainable Safari on June 18.
