Fairmont Service Club to meet

Play Café brewing at the library

Safe Routes to School

Safe Routes to School will be on Tuesday, Sept. 16. SRTS provides four safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Children who attend public and parochial elementary schools in Fairmont benefit by exercising with peers in a safe, chaperoned environment. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1, Corner of Day Street and South Orient (7:45 a.m.), Route 2, Begins at the Fairmont Aquatic Park (7:30 a.m.), Route 3 Begins at St Paul Lutheran School Playground (7:40 a.m.) and Route 4 begins at Grace Lutheran Church (7:30 a.m.). The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School.

Grace Lutheran offers apple pies

Grace Lutheran Church will host its annual Apple Pie Bake event for missions. Pies are available for a donation of $17 for one pie, or three or more pies for $15 each. Selections include baked or unbaked, crumb crust or regular crust. Pies can be pre-ordered by collecting an order form from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church office. Call or text (507) 235-3090 with pie choices and contact information. Pies can be picked up from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, or from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Sept. 21.
