East Chain Church on the Lawn
Church on the Lawn will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1, at the East Chain
Evangelical Free Church. The speaker will be Corbit Magby, interim Pastor of East Chain Ev. Free Church. The service includes live band worship, Bible teaching and wonderful kids’ programs. Prior to the service, donuts and coffee will be served at 10 a.m. Bring your lawn chair and a friend. The public is welcome. In case of inclement weather, it will be held inside the church. CER offers baton twirling
A level one baton twirling class for grades 1 and up will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Monday, June 9, and Wednesday, June 11, at the Fairmont Elementary School. Baton twirling is an aerobic sport that promotes physical fitness, flexibility and coordination. Bring a baton and get introduced to this fun sport. Batons will be provided for use if you do not have your own. The instructor will set up bonus practice times. Registration is required, costs $24, closes June 2, and can be completed on the CER webstore. For another $24, participants can purchase a baton to take home to practice. MLHS three-day art camp
An Art Camp for students will be held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. (grades 1 to 4) and 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. (grades 5 to 9) on June 9, 11, and 13 at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. The instructor is Kim Koppen. Registration is required, costs $53, closes June 1 and can be completed at the Special Events page at www.martinlutherhs.com.
Trimont band performs at RRC
The Trimont Centennial Band will perform at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at the Red Rock Center for the Arts (RRC) in Fairmont. Following the performance, refreshments will be served, providing an opportunity to visit with the group of musicians. A goodwill donation will be collected to support the Maynard Nelson Scholarship Fund.
Best Western blood drives
An American Red Cross blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 6:30 on Tuesday, June 3, and from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, at the Best Western in Fairmont. Visit www.redcrossblood.org or contact (800) RED-CROSS (800-733-2767) to select a time to donate.
Fairmont American Legion to meet
The Fairmont American Legion Auxiliary Unit 36 will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at 300 Downtown Plaza. All members and individuals interested in the Auxiliary are encouraged to attend. Note the time change.
