FHS Orchestra to perform at Red Rock

Junior and senior students in the Fairmont High School Orchestra, directed by Katie Hoaglund, will perform at the Red Rock Center for the Arts (RRC) at noon on Tuesday, May 13. The students will play a variety of pieces they have learned over the years. Bring a sack lunch if desired. Coffee and refreshments will be provided. There is no cost to attend. Veteran presentation at Pioneer museum

A Martin County Veteran presentation will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at the Pioneer Museum in Fairmont, featuring the military experiences of Leo Mau. There is no cost to attend. The public is invited to attend.

Fraud Prevention with Bank Midwest

Bank Midwest Fraud Prevention Manager Stacie Wolter will teach how to protect oneself from current fraud trends at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, at the Martin County Library in Fairmont. The presentation will teach guests to stay safe from phishing emails, calls, texts and impostor scams. For additional information, contact the Martin County Library in Fairmont at (507) 238-4207.

Fairmont Safe Routes to School

Fairmont Safe Routes to School (SRTS) will be on Tuesday mornings until May 20. SRTS provides four safe routes for children to get active by walking and biking to school one day a week during the fall and spring. Walkers and bikers are brought to their respective schools by crosswalk guards and adult volunteers along safe routes. The chaperoned routes will begin at the following locations: Route 1, Corner of Day Street and South Orient at 7:45 a.m., Route 2 at the Fairmont Aquatic Park at 7:30 a.m., Route 3 at St Paul Lutheran School Playground at 7:40 a.m., and Route 4 at Grace Lutheran Church at 7:30 a.m. The beginning locations of each route are also designated SRTS Safe Zones. Parents are encouraged to use the drop-off points to promote walking for fitness and avoid the congestion at Fairmont Elementary School. For additional information, contact CER at (507) 235-3141.
