Open art studio Saturday at Red Rock

Red Rock Center for the Arts, In collaboration with the Fairmont Opera House, invites you for an open art studio experience featuring Mary Poppins-themed art activities from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Red Rock Center, 222 E. Blue Earth Ave. in Fairmont. Open studio is a drop-in experience for boys and girls from highchair to grade school. The artwork created will be displayed at the FHS Performing Arts Center during the Mary Poppins play from July 18-23, and picked up the following week at the Red Rock Center. There is a $5 fee for materials, but participants will receive a coupon for $5 off the Mary Poppins play. Pre-registration is appreciated. Visit redrockcenter.org/art-classes.

Quilt and garden tour Saturday

The Prairie Star Quilt Guild of Fairmont will be having a Quilt & Garden Tour from 1-4:30 p.m. Saturday, July 13. The tour will display 6 local private gardens with many beautiful quilts displayed. A pie social at St. James Lutheran Church in Northrop is also included in the $20 ticket. Pre-sale tickets are available at Sterling Drug in Fairmont through July 13 and also available the day of the tour at the church and at the gardens. The following area students were named to the honor dean’s list for the 2024 spring semester at Minnesota State University, Mankato: Fairmont — Vanessa Bliesmer, Kolton Dobie, Sasha Franzen, Kelly Lopau, Noah Nelson, Rayah Quiring, Brooke Van Gelderen, Andrea Westcott; Sherburn — Katelyn Hummel, Kylee Rowen, Caitlin Whitehead; Truman — Andrew Geistfeld, Halle Siegler; Welcome — Lillian Smart.

Kristi Bulfer of Truman graduated and was awarded a Master of Arts degree in Teaching English as a Second Language following the 2024 spring semester at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud.
