Historical Society plans Tuesday program
A video presentation featuring the military experience of Jim Wetzler will be shown 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the Pioneer Museum in Fairmont. There is no charge and the public is invited to attend.
City Band to perform Tuesday concert
The Fairmont City Band will perform their final summer concert of the season 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the Sylvania Park Band Shell in Fairmont. The band will perform marches, show tunes and standard concert band literature. Intermission entertainment will be provided by the Fairmont Area Civic Theater who will be performing selections from their summer musical “Mary Poppins.” Interlaken Heritage Days Committee will be operating the concession stand. A variety of items will be for sale, with proceeds going toward expenses for IHD activities. Rehearsal will be held 6 p.m. at the Sylvania Park Band Shell. In case of rain both rehearsal and concert will be cancelled. For cancellation, listen to local radio stations or check the Fairmont City Band Facebook page after 5 p.m. the night of the concert. Human Rights Committee sets Thursday meeting
The Human Rights Committee of Martin County will meet 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 11, at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, 102 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Please note the time change from previously held meetings. Following the guidelines from the nationally respected Minnesota Department of Human Rights, they strive to encourage respect and maintain dignity for all the residencies of Martin County. All are welcome to join them.
Woody concert Thursday at library
Join library staff for the Wonderful World of Woody concert beginning 6 p.m. Thursday, July 11, at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. This family friendly all-ages concert will include sing-alongs, juggling, audience participation, dancing and a little magic as well. This program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant provided by the Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
