Red Rock hosts Tuesday music program

Red Rock Center for the Arts will host a musical lunch hour with singer, songwriter, storyteller and historian, Fred Keller, beginning noon today, June 11. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. A complimentary hot dog lunch will be available while they last. A free will donation will be taken. The public is invited.

Early Risers set Wednesday meeting

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet for breakfast and an informative talk at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Garrett Myren, owner of Waters Edge Fairmont LLC. The public is invited to come for breakfast and hear a captivating talk from Garrett.

Summer Swim Night Thursday in Fairmont

Martin County youth going into grades 7-12 in the fall are invited to a free swim night Thursday, June 13, at the Fairmont Aquatic Park. The event is hosted by Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition and the Empower youth groups. Park entry along with pizza, prizes and popcorn are all free. Sign-in will begin at 7:40 p.m. and the swim event will run from 8-10 p.m. If you want to see some of what MCSAP does, stop by. This is co-sponsored by the Martin County Youth Foundation, HRSA’s Rural Opioid Response Program, and the CDC Drug-Free Communities program. Kid’s event Friday at library

Join library staff to make a Father’s Day craft beginning 2 p.m. Friday, June 14, at the Martin County Library, 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Come and make a father’s day craft. There is no cost to attend this event and registration is not required. For a complete listing of all their summer events, check out the library’s website at www.martincountylibrary.org.

Triathlon this weekend needs volunteers

Volunteers are needed to hand out water and provide directions on the routes for bikers and runners. From 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 14, help is needed at the Aquatic Park for the Youth Triathlon and from 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, help is needed at Gomsrud Park for the Adult Triathlon and Fun 5K Run. Gavin Bruellman of Fairmont graduated and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with cum laude honors following the 2024 spring semester at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Selma Bleess of Fairmont was named to the President’s honor roll during the 2024 spring semester at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn.
