Early Risers set Wednesday meeting

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet for breakfast and an informative talk at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured speaker will be Chuck Rudolph from Youth for Christ. The public is invited to come for breakfast and hear a captivating talk from Chuck.

International musician giving free concert in Amboy

Phil Joel, an international artist, will give a personal concert starting 7 p.m. Friday, June 7, at River’s Edge Christian Church in Amboy. Phil started his music career in New Zealand. Later, he toured with the Newsboys and Katy Perry. He performed at River’s Edge in 2022 after performing at District Blitz. He enjoyed the intimate setting so much that he offered to return this summer. His single “Entertaining Angels” has 24K views on YouTube followed by “Sailing Speed” with 11K views.

Root Beer Floats at Chubb House this Saturday

Volunteers of the Historic Chubb House will be serving root beer floats from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, June 8, on the lawn of the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave. in Fairmont. Stop by before the Interlaken Heritage Days parade and enjoy a refreshing root beer float on the lawn. Monster cookies and ice cold bottled water will also be available. The historic Chubb House, built in 1867, will also be open for guided house tours from 4-6 p.m. Take a walk through this historic house with one of their on-site tour guides. A free will donation will be taken to help with ongoing updates to the house.

Derek Dunlop of Ceylon and Tallin Cook of Truman were named to the dean’s list for the 2024 spring semester at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa.

Thea Anderson of Sherburn was named to the President’s list for the 2024 spring semester at Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville, Iowa.

Allie Lopez and Zachary Murphy, both of Winnebago, were named to the dean’s list for the 2024 spring semester at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn.
