Trimont to host student robotics competition
Elementary students from across Martin County, Minn., will be teaming up for an energetic robotics competition from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 13, at the MCW Elementary School in Trimont. Spectators of all ages are welcome to witness this fun application of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in our community. This Martin County KnowHow! VEX IQ Robotics Competition will see dozens of 3rd & 4th graders from the Fairmont, Granada-Huntley-East Chain, Martin County West, and Truman school districts working together to face a friendly collaborative challenge. These students will have spent several weeks building and learning how to operate their VEX IQ robots, and are ready to put their hard work to the test at this exciting STEM event. Limited concessions will be available to purchase at this event such as donuts, coffee, juice, water and pop. The public is invited to cheer Martin County youth as they tackle fun STEM challenges.
Family Mini Golf at the Library
Drop by the Fairmont Library anytime from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13 for mini golf at the library. The library is located at 110 N. Park St. in Fairmont. Try your hand at a variety of golf holes throughout the library building. There is no need to register for this event and there is no cost to attend. Sherburn church plans Sunday buffet
The women’s fellowship of First Congregational Church in Sherburn will sponsor a three-meat buffet from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the church located at 212 N. Prairie St. in Sherburn. They will serve Swedish meatballs, turkey and ham. A donation of $10 is suggested. The church is handicap-accessible. Everyone is invited to attend.
