Cardinal football tailgate tonight
Fairmont football tailgate, sponsored by Hawkins Chevrolet, will be held 5:15-7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 18, at Mahoney Field at Fairmont Jr/Sr High School. They will be serving roast beef & turkey sandwiches, potato salad and football cookie. The cost is just $7. All Fairmont football supporters are welcome.
Author Allen Eskens visiting Jackson County Libraries
Meet Minnesota author, Allen Eskens at the Jackson County Library System this October. He is the bestselling author of eight books and is the recipient of the Barry Award, Minnesota Book Award, Rosebud Award (Left Coast Crime), and Silver Falchion Award and has been a finalist for the Edgar® Award, Thriller Award, and Anthony Award. His books have been translated into 26 languages.
He will be visiting the Jackson County Library System on Friday, Oct. 20 starting with the Heron Lake Library at 1 p.m., then visiting the Lakefield Library at 4 p.m. and finishing his day at the Jackson Library at 7 p.m. Books will be available for purchase and signing at the events and attendees will be entered into a drawing to win a copy of his newest release, Saving Emma. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Registration is not needed. 55 Alive driving course offered
Mark Fujan, State Farm agent, will host a free 55+ Defensive Driving Course on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Fairmont. Class times are 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Pre-registration is requested. There is limited seating, so those interested are asked to call as soon as possible to register. Drivers 55 and older can save up to 10 percent on their auto insurance for 3 years by attending the course. To register, call (507) 235-5573.
Halloween Craft Tuesday at Truman Library
Join Theresa at the Truman Library for a fun Halloween craft for kids beginning 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the Truman Library, 101 E. Ciro St. in Truman. This program is open to the public and there is no cost to attend.
