CER to offer upcoming community activity

Fairmont Community Education & Recreation (CER) will offer an upcoming community activity. Baton Twirling – Basic, for 1st graders and up, will be held 3:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, and 3:30-4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Fairmont Elementary School, 714 Victoria St. in Fairmont. Baton twirling is an aerobic sport that promotes physical fitness, flexibility and coordination. It is one of the very best ways to develop and improve eye-hand coordination and fine motor skills. Bring your baton and get introduced to this fun sport. Batons will be provided for use if you do not have your own. Instructor will set-up bonus additional twirl times to practice. The fee is $22. People First set Tuesday meeting

People First will hold their next monthly meeting 4-5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at the Pizza Ranch, Fairmont. If you have any questions about this self-advocacy group, please call Pat Kietzer at (507) 848-5017.

Jackson County libraries offer presentation Wednesday

Legends and Lore of Winter with Chad Lewis, an investigator and lecturer, will be held noon Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Jackson Library, at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lakefield Library and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Heron Lake Library. Through Chad’s presentation, you will learn about the folktales and findings of his paranormal research. This monthly adult program is free and funded from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage fund. Registration is not required.
