Heritage Acres to hold Fall Festival on Sunday

Heritage Acres will host its annual Fall Festival on Sunday at 507 W. Lake Ave. in Fairmont. An ecumenical church service will begin at 10 a.m. in the chapel, followed by a soup and sandwich luncheon fundraiser for Heritage Acres at 11 a.m., and Steve Lang will provide live music beginning at noon in the Prairieville building. The new tipi will be put up at noon for those who want to see how a tipi is erected, and a Native American herbalist will be on hand to talk about edible plants. All the buildings will be open starting 11 a.m. for self-guided tours, and the farm house will have fresh-baked cookies. Events also include corn shelling and apple pressing along with other activities for youth. Of course, corn harvesting will be going on with antique tractors and plowing will be done with a sulky. Plenty of hand sanitizer will be available, and people are welcome to wear masks while in the buildings. The event is free. All are invited.
