Lakeside Cemetery celebrates 150th anniversary

Lakeside Cemetery in Fairmont invites everyone to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the formation of the cemetery by having a picnic at the gravesite of your loved ones. Brats, hot dogs, chips, cookie, and water will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday (Rain date will be June 20). A free will donation will be accepted to be used for replacing the retaining wall. Please bring your own garbage bag and a blanket or chair to sit on.

The following area students graduated following the 2021 spring semester and were awarded degrees, diplomas and honors during virtual commencement ceremonies at Rochester Community and Technical College: Blue Earth — Carla Leyva, associate’s degree in veterinary technician, Braydon Waymer, diploma in automotive technician; Butterfield — Olivia Fredin, diploma in administrative office professional (honors); Elmore — Emily Heenan, associate’s degree in healthcare office professional; Granada — Zachary Wolter, associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences; St. James — Jaydn Anderson, diploma in carpentry (high honors), Karina Moreno Ascencio, associate’s degree in dental hygiene (high honors) and associate’s degree in liberal arts and sciences (high honors); Truman — Paxton Gravlin, associate’s degree in accounting and certificate in business administration.

Joseph Slater of Fairmont was named to the dean’s list for the 2021 spring semester at Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
