Red Rock offers weekend events

Red Rock Center for the Arts will host mountain music by ‘Chain Station’ 6:30 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Park, 1301 N. North Ave. in Fairmont. Bring your lawn chairs. In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held at the Fairmont Holiday Inn. Also, the Prairie Star Quilt Guild invites everyone to a quilt and fiber arts open house from 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Red Rock Center for the Arts, 222 E. Blue Earth Ave. in Fairmont.

Prairie Star Quilters to hold meeting

Prairie Star Quilt Guild will meet Monday at Fairmont Evangelical Covenant Church, 901 Woodland Ave. in Fairmont. The guild board will meet at 12:30 p.m., with the membership meeting at 1:30 p.m. Social distancing will be practiced. Members are encouraged to bring projects they’ve completed for the show-and-tell portion of the meeting. The program will feature three demonstrations by members showing new techniques and tips. The following area fall and spring semester students were awarded degrees and honors at a virtual graduation ceremony May, 2021 for Ridgewater College with campuses in Hutchinson and Willmar: Fairmont — Rachel Botzet, Associate of Applied Science in Paramedic (honors), Angela Gerken, Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology (honors); Jackson — April Hackworth, Associate of Applied Science in Activity Director; St. James — Lucas Doll, Associate of Applied Science in Agri-Business (high honors), and Associate of Applied Science in GPS/GIS Technology for Agriculture (high honors).

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2021 spring semester at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls: Fairmont — Brittany Bass, McKayla Chambers, Taylor Crissinger, Gabriella Cristina Veloso Lima, Grace Higgins, Garrett Myren; Madelia — Alayna DeLaCruz.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2021 spring semester at Alexandria Technical & Community College in Alexandria: Fairmont — Khuong Duong, Brandon Williams; Jackson — Eli Edlin.
