Conservation Club sets meeting

Martin County Conservation Club Inc. will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday at the club shelter house on North Silver Lake. The site can be reached by driving seven miles south of Fairmont on Highway 15, then taking a right on County Road 8 for 1 1/4 miles just past Hands Park. All club members and the public are welcome to attend.

Red Rock to host Wednesday open house

Red Rock Center for the Arts will host an art show open house from 3-6 p.m. Wednesday at 222 E. Blue Earth Ave. in Fairmont. Come and celebrate the 67 works of art created by 48 high students from Blue Earth Area, Fairmont, GHEC, North Union and Truman. The art work is in many mediums including watercolor, acrylic, pencil drawings, ceramics, digital, photography and stained glass. Cookies and punch will be served. Area art teachers Sara Albright, Kandice Petschke, Rebecca Johnson, Jeff Speltz and Mark Nass helped make the show possible despite the many challenges throughout the school year. The show will be on display until May 20.

College News

Brenna Horkey of Sherburn was awarded the Dr. Kathryn McKinley Volunteer & Community Service Award during a recognition celebration event April 25 at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.
