Fairmont Legion plans meeting

Fairmont American Legion Post 36 will hold its next monthly meeting 7 p.m. Monday in the meeting room at the Blazer Bar in Fairmont. All members are encouraged to attend. For questions, you may call Ken Ringeisen at (507) 236-5743.

Fairmont Community blood drive slated

American Red Cross will hold a Fairmont blood drive from 12:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Fairmont Holiday Inn, 1201 Torgerson Dr., Fairmont. For appointments, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or go online at www.redcrossblood.org. and enter: FAIRMONTMN. Social distancing guidelines will be followed and masks are required. Blood donors of all types are needed to keep up with the demands for blood due to the pandemic and winter season.

College News

Sophia Lovell of Alpha, and Kelbey Ahrens of Blue Earth, were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2020-21 academic year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Bryan Karp of Blue Earth was awarded a bachelor’s degree in business economics with cum laude honors following the 2020 fall semester at St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud.

Maren Malakowsky of St. James was awarded a master’s degree in library and information studies during a virtual commencement ceremony held Dec. 13, 2020, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
