Upcoming blood donation opportunities

There will be two blood donation opportunities for our area next week. First, an American Red Cross blood drive will be held 12:30-6:30 p.m. Monday at the Kiester Community Center, Highway 22 in Winnebago. Also, a blood drive will be held noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at Butterfield High School, 440 Hubbard Ave. in Butterfield. Extra sanitization will be utilized. Please wear a face covering and practice good physical distancing. To schedule an appointment, please call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org. Donors of all blood types are needed. Everyone is encouraged to donate blood to keep up with the challenging demands due to the pandemic and the winter season.

College News

Conner Tordsen of Fairmont and Mercedes Moeller of Welcome were named to the President’s academic honors list for the 2020 fall semester at Dakota State University in Madison, S.D.

The following area students were named to the dean’s list for the 2020 fall semester at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa: Blue Earth — Gaven Bruellman; Fairmont — Noah Becker; Sherburn — Brenna Horkey; Truman — Cayden Fischer.
