Diabetes support group meets Wednesday

Jill O’Donnell, Mayo Clinic Health System-certified diabetes educator, and Julie Morris, Mayo Clinic Health System licensed practical nurse, host monthly community diabetes support group meetings the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at the customer service area in the Fairmont Hy-Vee store. These informal meetings provide a way for adults with diabetes to share advice, as well as learn more about the disease from medical experts. There is no cost to attend and no need to pre-register. Early Risers to hold Wednesday meeting

Early Risers Kiwanis Club of Fairmont will meet 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Ranch Restaurant, Fairmont. Featured this week will be Jerry Brooks, high school teacher in Fairmont, who will talk about his flight course at the school. The public is invited to attend.

United Methodist slates Wednesday supper

Fairmont United Methodist Church will host a supper from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 119 E. Second St., Fairmont. The menu will consist of creamed chicken and biscuits, lettuce salad, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, donated desserts and beverages. A donation of $2 is suggested. Everyone is welcome.

Aktion Club Theatre sets Thursday meeting

Aktion Club Theatre, part of Kiwanis International, will meet 4:30-6 p.m. Thursday in the basement of Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. The public is invited to attend any of the group’s theatrical practices. Those needing a ride or who have questions about the group may call Pat Kietzer at (507) 848-5017 or the Arc office at (507) 235-8580.

Genesis Academy slates concert event

Genesis Classical Academy will hold its spring concert 7 p.m. Thursday at United Methodist Church in Winnebago. All students in grades K-7 will perform. This is also the final concert for GCA music director Annette Jenkins, who will retire at the end of this school year after 30 years of teaching. All are welcome.

Chubb House Tea set for Saturday

There will be a Chubb House tea event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Chubb House, 209 Lake Ave., Fairmont. They will have tea, coffee and special treats. Admission cost is a donation. Proceeds will benefit the preservation of the historic house. The event is open to the public.

Katherine Cory of Wells was named to the President’s list for the 2019 spring term at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.

Courtney Mosloski of Fairmont was awarded the College Fellow award during a convocation ceremony held April 4 at the University of Jamestown in Jamestown, N.D.
