Perez benefit slated in Winnebago

A benefit for Carelia Perez will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the Winnebago Municipal Center, 140 S. Main St. The event is sponsored by the Blue Earth Knights of Columbus and the parents of Genesis Classical Academy. Perez is the wife of Ian Perez and mother of two young children. She works for the U.S. Postal Service in Winnebago. In early February, she was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. On Feb. 19, she underwent an extensive surgery and is now in the process of going through extensive chemotherapy. With this benefit, it is hoped to alleviate some of the financial burden the family will face.
