Woodcarvers set Tuesday meeting

Community Education and Recreation woodcarving group will meet 7 p.m. Tuesday in the art room at Fairmont Elementary School. Park on the south side of the building and use the CER office door. No charge. New and experienced carvers are welcome.

Soil health workshop Thursday in Fairmont

A soil health winter workshop hosted by the Martin Soil and Water Conservation District and the Blue Earth watershed civic engagement team will be held 9:30-3 p.m. Thursday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Fairmont. Agenda items will include seeding methods, ag water quality certification, climate change, crop production, soil health. This event will be free with a lunch included. CER announces upcoming activity

Fairmont Community Education and Recreation will hold a community activity next week. There will be an asset protection for family farms and small business education workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday in room 107 (Budd Room) at Fairmont Elementary School. Enter through door 1. This workshop will be presented by estate planning attorney Hannon T. Ford. The class is free but pre-registration is needed to ensure the class will be held. Fundraiser planned at Granada school

The 10th- and 11th-grade classes at Granada-Huntley-East Chain will host a taco, nachos and hot dog fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Friday during the home basketball game in Granada. Proceeds will go toward their 2019-2020 class trips. Everyone is welcome.

Tonia Lacore of Kiester was awarded a bachelor’s degree in social work during a fall commencement ceremony at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth.
