FAIRMONT -- Blue Earth Area junior forward Caitlin Rorman and North Union sophomore post player Chloe Lofstrom don palindromic jersey numbers on the prep basketball court.
Palindromic digits -- ones that read the same forward and backward like Rorman's No. 11 and Lofstrom's No. 22 -- also can be referred to as master numbers.
Ironically, Rorman and Lofstrom compiled the area's top two scoring averages en route to helping the Bucs and Warriors to master their respective opponents during the 2017-18 campaign.
The 5-foot-11 Lofstrom, who posted a 10.5-point scoring clip during her varsity debut season as a freshman, evolved into North Union's leading scorer and rebounder this winter.
Lofstrom scorched the nets for 417 points (16.7 ppg) and pulled down 228 rebounds (9.1 rpg) to become a double-double threat each and every time she stepped onto the hardwood court.
The 2018 Iowa Class 2A all-state tournament choice connected on 156 of 258 field goals for 60.5 percent, sank 105 of 161 free throws for 65.2 percent, doled out 22 assists and garnered 20 steals during her second varsity campaign.
The hard-working Lofstrom played an integral role in engineering the Warriors' 22-3 overall record and the conglomerated program's first-ever state tournament appearance that ended via a heart-wrenching triple-overtime loss to eventual state champion Cascade in the Iowa Class 2A semifinals at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.
Similar to her neighbor just 35 miles across the state border, Rorman proved double-double and sometimes, triple-double trouble for opponents on the hardwood court this season.
The Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association's honorable mention all-state selection topped all area scorers by pouring in 597 points en route to a staggering 20.6-point pace.
The 5-10 Rorman eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring plateau against Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther on Dec. 28 in the Blue Earth Area Holiday Invitational to etch her name among the school's elite scorers.
The three-time all-Big South Conference East Division choice also pulled down 173 rebounds to finish No. 2 on the Bucs' roster behind fellow Sentinel All-Area teammate Hannah Johnson at 6.0 boards per outing.
The three-time All-Area selection connected on 183 of 311 shots from 2-point distance for 58.8 percent, 38 of 121 from 3-point territory for 31.4 percent, and 117 of 161 at the free throw line for 72.7 percent in 2017-18.
The multi-tasking Rorman also topped Blue Earth Area by distributing 62 assists and pocketing 77 steals to help guide the Bucs to a 17-12 overall record and an appearance in the Section 2AA, South Sub-Section championship game this season.
For all of their contributions on the court and in the lockerroom, Rorman and Lofstrom have been selected as the 2018 Sentinel All-Area co-players of the year.
Here's a glance at the rest of the newspaper's annual elite eight lineup.
Taylor Crissinger (Fairmont) -- Versatile.
The all-Big South Conference East Division honorable mention selection topped the Cardinals' statistical charts in scoring (255 points, 9.1 ppg), rebounding (168, 6.0 rpg) and assists (59) during her fourth varsity hoops season.
The two-time All-Area choice sank 102 of 243 field goals, including 14 of 44 from 3-point range, for 44.9 percent to go with 37-for-66 free throw shooting this winter.
The Cardinals' two-time top scorer and rebounder also pocketed 29 steals and blocked 10 shots to cap her junior season.
Samantha Hagedorn (North Union) -- Pure scorer.
The three-time All-Area selection produced the state-qualifying Warriors' best totals in assists (113, 4.5 apg), steals (68, 2.7 spg) and 3-pointers made (46) during her senior basketball campaign.
The two-time first-team Top of Iowa Conference choice utilized her 36.5 percent prowess from 3-point range and 42.7 percent shooting from 2-point distance to generate the green-and-black attack's No. 2 scoring pace of 14.8 points per outing.
The future Iowa Lakes Community College guard, who eclipsed the 1,000-point career scoring plateau this season, played a key role in guiding North Union to the program's first-ever state bid and a 22-3 overall record.
Hannah Johnson (Blue Earth Area) -- Most improved.
The all-Big South Conference East Division selection topped the Bucs' rebounding charts with 175 (6.0 rpg) and posted the No. 2 scoring total (309 points, 10.7 ppg) during the winter campaign.
The 5-9 junior forward connected on 98 of 276 field goals overall for 35.5 percent, including 38 of 142 from 3-point range for 26.8 percent, to complement 68.2 percent at the free throw line (75 of 110).
The hard-working Johnson, who also distributed 50 assists and pocketed 49 steals, proved a solid contributor behind Blue Earth Area's appearance in the Section 2AA, South Sub-Section finals and its 17-12 record.
Macy Quinn (Gran-ada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther) -- All-out hustle.
The perennial all-Valley Conference choice cleared the 1,000-point career scoring level during the last game of the season to cap an outstanding prep hoops career.
The hard-working 5-6 senior guard topped the Jaguars in scoring with a 15.6-point average and in steals with 3.1 per outing this campaign.
Quinn, who finished second on the Jaguars in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and assists (1.1 apg), played a key role in guiding Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther to a state bid in 2017.
Hallie Reese (North Union) -- Tough.
The repeat All-Area choice hit the last-second clutch shot heard around northern Iowa to propel the Warriors to a two-point victory over 2017 Class 2A state champion Western Christian during this year's Region 1 championship game in Hartley, Iowa.
The two-time Top of Iowa Conference selection worked the low post to produce North Union's No. 2 rebounding mark (137, 5.5 rpg) and No. 3 scoring clip (357, 14.3 ppg) to close out her prep hoops career.
The 5-9 senior center made 143 of 255 2-pointers for 56.1 percent, 9 of 20 3-pointers for 45 percent and 60 of 79 free throws for 76 percent to go with 52 assists and 46 steals this winter.
Like Lofstrom and Hagedorn, Reese proved an integral player behind the Warriors' first-ever state berth and 22-3 overall record.
Maia Taylor (Martin County West) -- Multi-tasker.
The perennial all-Valley Conference choice topped the Mavericks in every major statistical category except scoring and 3-point shooting during her senior season.
