Community Day coming up

CEYLON -- So far, March has been kind of like a lion. Let's hope March goes out like a lamb. Today is the last day of March. Don't get fooled Sunday. Have a great Easter. Think spring.

The congregation at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have its Easter service at 5:30 p.m. tonight with communion. They will have an Easter breakfast after the service. Area residents are invited to join them.

St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon will have its Easter service at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. As part of the Circle of Faith parishes, the congregation is invited to join the other two parishes at a sunrise service 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran in Welcome, with a breakfast to follow. The third parish will have its Easter service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Waverly Lutheran Church north of Welcome.

Area residents are invited to any of these services.

St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wilbert will have its Easter service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Before the service, there will be a breakfast from 7:45-9 a.m. and children's activities from 8:15-9:15 a.m. in the Sunday school area.

Area residents are invited to join them.

Tuesday coffee hours will begin in April and Trinity Lutheran Church in Trimont will have coffee, goodies and fellowship available from 8:30-10 a.m. each Tuesday.

Join friends for fellowship beginning April 3.

A Red Cross blood drive will be held in Ceylon from 1-6 p.m. Wednesday at the Legends 2/Legion Building. For an appointment, call (800) 733-2767, go online to www.redcrossblood.org or text BLOODAPP to 90999.

The normal body has 10 pints of blood and a donation only takes 1 pint. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood, and more than 41,000 blood donations are needed each day. Thirty-eight percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate but only about 10 percent does.

The ladies group of St. Peter Lutheran Church will meet 1:30 p.m. Wednesday for its monthly meeting.

The spring rummage and bake sale will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. Saturday is also Bag Day. This is usually a huge rummage sale.

Ceylon's Community Day auction and citywide rummage sales will be held April 14 this year. Anyone wishing to have their rummage sale on the map should contact Linda Bakke at (507) 632-4509 by the April 9 deadline with your information. Please have name and address and any special items and a phone number only for Linda to contact if necessary. Thank you to Linda for doing the maps again.

Another upcoming event will be the "Clean Up Day" in Ceylon on May 12. There will be a charge of $20 per load. For more information, call City Hall at (507) 632-4653.
