FAIRMONT — The body of a missing Fairmont man was located in Budd Lake, just north of Gomsrud Park, at about 9:45 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Robert Keith Mielke, 64, had been reported missing to police about 9:30 p.m. Saturday. He had last been seen in the early evening hours of March 31 walking from a friend’s house a few blocks from his residence, police say.

According to a press release from the Fairmont Police Department:

After Mielke was reported missing, a search of the area was conducted by police, firefighters and Martin County Sheriff’s deputies. The search included the use of the Fairmont Fire Department boat to check area lakes.

Mielke was found Sunday evening after an object was observed floating in Budd Lake just north of Gomsrud Park. Police officers responded and recovered the body with the assistance of sheriff’s deputies. The body was identified at the scene as Mielke.

The case has been accepted for an autopsy to be conducted by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office.
