Iowa State’s Killyan Toure has successful shoulder surgery after injuring it working at a camp

AMES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State's Killyan Toure underwent a successful surgery on his right shoulder Friday and is expected to be ready to play basketball in January. Toure was injured last week while working at Damian Lillard's Formula Zero Elite Camp in Salt Lake City. "This is an unfortunate setback for Killyan," Cyclones coach T.J. Otzelberger said. "He has been an important part of our program and we're looking forward to having him back for the second half of the season. Right now, our focus is on his health and recovery." Toure, a 6-foot-3 guard from France, started all 37 ...

Quarterback CJ Carr returns to No. 4 Notre Dame trying to ignore the hype while producing results

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr spent the summer playing ping-pong and golf, hanging out with teammates and, of course, refining his football skills. He was too busy competing to pay attention to what everyone else was saying — that he could be a Heisman Trophy candidate and that the fourth-ranked Fighting Irish could end their national championship drought. "I think 90% of that's coming from social media," Carr said. "That's where 80% of the noise comes from, and then you'll have your mom calling you on a Saturday like, 'Did you see this?' And it's like, ...

Ohio State’s new offense: Fewer plays, more purpose under new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — After 15 years coaching in the NFL, Arthur Smith was hired to fix an Ohio State offense that was efficient but not explosive last season. The Buckeyes averaged 33.4 points per game last season, but faltered in their final two games, scoring just 10 points in a loss to Indiana in the Big 10 title game and 14 in a quarterfinal loss to Miami (Fla.) in the College Football Playoff. That was under offensive coordinator Brian Hartline, who was named head coach at the University of South Florida just days before the Big Ten championship. Hartline's first season as ...

Ole Miss QB Trainidad Chambliss welcomes pressure that comes with fame and aims to refine his game

When Mississippi quarterback Trinidad Chambliss watches the Houdini acts from last season that made him a college football sensation, there is a part of him that would rather avoid doing that again. The ability to escape converging pass-rushers, and seemingly ad-lib his way into clutch gains on the ground or through the air, was never more evident than during the Rebels' CFP quarterfinal victory over favored Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. When Chambliss saw the post-game highlights, one of his first thoughts was: "That was kind of dumb in the moment. Like, if I would have gotten sacked ...
