Author, sixth-generation cattle farmer and agriculture advocate Haley Ammann-Ekstrom reads her children's picture book, "Ruby the Runaway," during an author event on Wednesday afternoon at the Sherburn Library, currently located in Sherburn City Hall. The story follows a young girl, Gertie, who searches the farm for her red cow, Ruby. Following the reading, Ammann-Ekstrom distributed coloring pages, stickers, signed books and answered questions for those in attendance. Ammann-Ekstrom will present her book at noon on Friday, Aug. 28, at the Minnesota State Fair in Saint Paul. The book is available for purchase on Kindle, Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
