TRUMAN — On Friday, Jan. 14, Private Kaden Moon from Truman, Minn., graduated from Marine Corps boot camp. While this is an accomplishment in itself, Private Moon fired one of the highest shooting scores in Marine Corps history. He fired a 247 in his Table One course. As a retired Marine myself, I can tell you he may have set a historical range record at his Edson range at Camp Pendleton. There is certainly much less than 1 percent of Marines who can fire that score after years of firing instruction. Kaden fired that after 2 weeks of instruction. This is a monumental achievement in a military branch that is known to have the finest military marksman in the world. Please contact Camp Pendleton public affairs and ask what the table one range record at Edson is.
Please ask around to any former Marines and ask them how difficult a 247 is to shoot. Private Moon deserves a huge congratulations for an amazing achievement.
