Dollars for Scholars opens scholarship applications

FAIRMONT — Scholarship applications for the Fairmont Dollars for Scholars chapter opened Jan. 1, 2022. Students who wish to apply can begin creating or updating their student profiles now at fairmont.dollarsforscholars.org. The minimum scholarship to be awarded is $1,200, and more than 180 scholarships are available for graduates of Fairmont High School. Eligibility for all scholarships offered by the local Dollars for Scholars chapter will close on April 1, 2022. Students can receive up to four awards from the organization in the pursuit of certificates, associates or bachelor’s degrees from accredited institutions. Students who have applied in the past are strongly encouraged to read through their online profiles and make applicable updates to create a stronger application.

An information night on how to use the scholarship application system and how each application is scored will be held 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, in the media center at Fairmont High School. If you are interested in attending, email Liz Wheeler to register at fairmontdollars@gmail.com. The first 15 minutes will cover what Dollars for Scholars looks for and expects in its applications.
