MCSAP receives 2021 Valero Benefit for Children grant

FAIRMONT — MCSAP (Martin County Substance Abuse Prevention) Coalition received a charitable grant of $10,000 from Valero Benefit for Children this year, thanks to the Valero Texas Open golf tournament and associated events. Due to the incredible generosity of Valero’s business partners, donors, and sponsors, more than $16 million in the net proceeds from the Valero Texas Open will be distributed to agencies across the United States, fueling the work of hundreds of charity partners like MCSAP Coalition.

”Valero’s driven to make a difference in our community, and we’re proud to be part of that and to keep making a difference in the lives of young people across Martin County,” said Steph Johnson, MCSAP Coalition project coordinator. This money will help support our

Empower groups across the county as they work together to help inspire young people to be the best they can be drug and alcohol-free and to help promote mental health and wellness as well as giving kids something better to do than alcohol and drugs.

Some of the employees of Valero came to the MERGE Friendsgiving event held Sunday, Nov. 14, to present the check to some of the MCSAP students as they were serving food and enjoying the event. ”It was an incredible surprise and we were honored to receive that

generous gift,” said Johnson.

Starting at $2.99/week.
