FAIRMONT — Kinship of Martin County received a charitable grant of $10,000 from the Valero Benefit for Children this year, thanks to the Valero Texas Open golf tournament and associated events.
Several Valero employees surprised the Kinship directors with news of the grant at a local community meal on Sunday, November 14. They were thankful to be able to share the excitement with other members from the community. Kinship continues to be grateful for the relationships they have with the businesses and individuals in Martin County communities, and the Valero Benefit for Children grant is a great example of that.
Due to the incredible generosity of Valero’s business partners, donors and sponsors, more than $16 million in net proceeds from the Valero Texas Open will be distributed to agencies across the United States, fueling the work of hundreds of charity partners like Kinship of Martin County.
Kinship of Martin County’s mission is to provide support to youth in Martin County through mentoring. They do that by matching youth in our communities with adult volunteer mentors, who spend time with their mentees and support them in various ways throughout their relationship.
These funds will help provide support to Kinship mentors and mentees and their families, find new mentors so they can continue making new matches, and provide activities and resources for their mentees and their families.
