Welcome talks forfeited property
WELCOME — Welcome City Council began its regular agenda by approving two tax forfeited
properties for sale to the city.
They discussed the water leak detection and the city clerk will send
letters to those affected.
The park board suggested removing the fence and lowering the
grade to the tennis court and possibly changing that to a basketball court or something other.
City employee, Max Longley, explained the issues at the park. The
council suggested meeting with the park board at the city park to
better understand the issues and see first hand what could be done for improvements and repairs
projects.
The council approved their 2022 budget for their contribution to
the Fire Department Relief Association’s Retirement fund for $6000.
Travis Winter, engineer from Bolton and Menk, reported that the
applications for the water line projects are to be ready soon and
then quotes can be obtained and the project to the Truck Writers
area can be started. He was confident that this could be done this
year.
Welcome/Sherburn Police Department requested the purchase of
body cameras at $20,000, with half of the price for each
community. The council approved the $10,000 needed for
Welcome’s half of the purchase price. This could come from the
Covid monies Welcome has received.
The next meeting of the Welcome City Council will be 6 p.m. Sept. 7.
