MCW approves new superintendent contract
SHERBURN–The Martin County West school board met Monday night and approved a three-year Superintendent contract, approved multiple resignations and approved multiple teacher hiring contracts.
Cori Reynolds was selected and approved for a three-year contract to be the new superintendent at Martin County West Schools. The board congratulated Reynolds and welcomed her as a member of the Mavericks. Reynolds was unavailable for comment as she joined the meeting virtually.
Along with that Reynolds approved authorization to execute and file applications for and on behalf of the school district. In addition, she would act as its authorized representative in the state and federally funded programs. She was also approved to authorize fund transfers and all other bank transactions other than check signing and also the identified official with authority for the MDE External User Access Recertification System.
Reynolds previously served as director of community education in the Brainerd School District.
With the approval of Reynolds as superintendent, interim superintendent Chad Brusky ended his tenure at the position as well as at MCW. Brusky served as the interim superintendent for half of last year.
“I wanted to thank the board for an amazing five years,” Brusky said.
Brusky accepted a position at Fairmont High School as co-principal. Previously Brusky served as a principal at Trimont Elementary from 2016 until he took the interim position.
The board also approved multiple resignations. Among those were gymnastics head coach Beraiah Peterson, bus driver Bert Schwager, assistant principal Chad Pederson and band director Bob Ebert.
The board also approved multiple hirings. Among those were Hunter Manderfield as an Agriculture/Business Instructor beginning July 1, 2021. Sarah Hansen was hired as a secondary math instructor on August 30, 2021. Payton Crosby was hired as an elementary instructor beginning August 30, 2021. Adam Schorn was hired as a secondary social studies instructor beginning August 30, 2021. Noah Anderson was hired as a vocal music instructor beginning August 30, 2021. Jenna Steele was hired as an elementary instructor beginning August 30, 2021.
In other action, the board:
-Approved the 2021-2022 preliminary budget.
-Approved the reassignment of Reilley Rode as Media Specialist beginning with the 2021-2022 school year.
-Approved joining the Minnesota State High School League for the 2021-2022 school year.
The next MCW school board meeting will be on July 19 at 6:30 p.m.
