FAIRMONT – There was a sense of high expectation weighing on Logan Junkermeier’s shoulders heading into the start of his senior season. Three starters from a 17-10 team would take their talents with them to graduation. The most notable departure was Fairmont center Oliver Tordsen. ...
FAIRMONT – Brylee Miller already had a decorated high school basketball career. Miller’s first four years in the Fairmont program saw her break the 1,000-point threshold, surpass Ashley Alleven-Stensland’s scoring record of 1,307 points and post a 76-35 record with two Section 3AA ...
FAIRMONT – “You never fail if you know in your heart you did the best of which you are capable.” I don’t usually lean on another person’s opinion, but this quote, often attributed to legendary coach John Wooden, has always resonated with me wholeheartedly. Joseph Hackett, Sr., Guard, Fairmont One of two returning starters for head coach Jared Thompson’s team, Joseph Hackett was a strong two-way player for Fairmont basketball this season. Hackett finished the year averaging just over 10 points per game while shooting 36% from beyond the arc. He wrapped up his time at Fairmont with the third-most 3-pointers made in school history. Whether Thompson put his defense in a man-to-man look or one of his various zone schemes, Hackett was a big part of making this unit click, especially on the perimeter. Eli Jensen, Jr., Guard, ...

On top of reaching the 1,000 career point mark, Benck’s 50 made 3-pointers is the largest single-season amount in program history. Benck also holds the record for most career 3-pointers made. She finished the year averaging over 18 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.4 steals and 2.7 assists per game, earning Tomahawk-Valley Conference, Valley Division Player of the Year honors. GHEC/T/ML finished with a 14-13 record while going 9-3 in ...
