JACKSON - The Fairmont and Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin cross country teams competed in Thursday afternoon's JCC Tri for Health Meet at the Jackson Golf Club. Both Fairmont boys’ (86 points) and girls’ (47 points) teams got second place. The MCW/BO boys (152 points) got sixth place, while the girls only had a handful of runners competing.

Cole Hanson (18:19.4) placed second behind Enzo Gazzola from St. Peter. Devin Hanson (19:34.3) finished 12th with Michael Hamlet (19:52.4) getting 14th. Holden Junkermeier (21:08.4) placed 26th. Isaac Laidig (21:50.7) completed Fairmont's top five placers after getting 33rd.
Brooklyn Stone (21:51.1) and Sophia Streit (21:55.2) aided the girls’ scoring with third- and fourth-place finishes, respectively. Ellie Drever (23:16.3) cracked the top 10 with an eighth-place finish. Addison Lintelman (24:05.7) and Avery Steuber (24:07.6) placed 16th and 17th.
The Cardinals will compete again in the St. James XC Invite next Tuesday at the St. James Golf Course.
MCW/BO
For the Maverick boys, it was Marek Mulder (20:10.5) and Brody Cook (20:30.2) who laced the top 20 after finishing 17th and 18th. Elliot Reynolds (21:24.7) placed 27th. Conrad Gwin (22:15.0) got 37th. Beckett White (24:57.4) finished 63rd.
Evelynn Christenson (22:35.9) was the top finisher for the girls after getting ninth. Reese Peters was the other Maverick runner competing on Thursday. She finished 60th with a time of 30:30.0.
MCW/BO travels to Prairie Ridge Golf Course next Thursday to compete in the Grizzly Pie Invitational.
