NORTH UNION: 56, RICEVILLE: 42
RICEVILLE - North Union football outlasted Riceville 56-42 on Friday night to move to 4-0. Warriors quarterback Greyson Colegrove tallied 156 rushing yards, 90 passing yards and five total touchdowns. Cooper Hoye caught all three passing touchdowns to go along with his 111 receiving yards. Carson Crouch ran for 174 yards with one touchdown. The Warriors will take on GTRA on Friday, Sept. 25. Kickoff at North Union High School will be at 7:00 p.m.
EDGERTON: 72, GHEC/T: 14
EDGERTON - Edgerton's 40-point third quarter pushed the Flying Dutchmen past Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman football, 72-14, last Friday night. The Jaguars are now 1-1 this year and will take on Wabasso this Friday at 7:00 p.m. GHEC/T quarterback Bowan Sill scored both touchdowns via his legs, running for 8- and 54-yard scores, respectively. Sill finished with 111 rushing yards on 13 carries. He completed three passes for 67 yards, all of which came from Elijah Jensen.
PREP BOYS SOCCER
CANNON FALLS: 7, FAIRMONT: 3
FAIRMONT - The Fairmont Area boys soccer team fell to Cannon Falls 7-3 this past Saturday afternoon at Jeffery Kot Fields. The Cardinals are now 3-3 in the fall season and will play at Worthington on Tuesday night. Dammon Castillo notched a score, while Ricky Morales Herrera had two goals. Brody Deuel made seven saves. Hunter Olson had a relief goalie appearance and notched two saves.
PREP GIRLS SOCCER
FAIRMONT: 1, CANNON FALLS: 1
CANNON FALLS - It was another tie for Fairmont Area girls soccer on Saturday afternoon. Olive Kawecki scored the Cardinals’ lone goal thanks to a pass from Abbie Simpson, evening the score at 1-1 before the final buzzer. Addison Folkerts recorded seven saves. Fairmont Area now sits at 2-2-2, previously tied with Marshall last Thursday, 1-1.
PREP CROSS COUNTRY
SIOUX FALLS - Fairmont boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Nike Heartland Preview this past Saturday at Yankton Trail Park in South Dakota. Here are a few notable results from both sides.
Boys (571 points)
Cole Hanson helped bring the Cardinal boys to a 22nd-place finish out of 26 teams. The freshman placed 43rd with a time of 16:56.9. Devin Hanson (18:22.0) got 124th, and Michael Hamlet (18:29.2) got 137th.
Girls (543 points)
The Fairmont girls placed 20th, with Brooklyn Stone leading the way once more. Stone cracked the Top 100 with her 98th-best time of 21:22.9. Sophia Streit wasn't too far behind. Streit got 105th after finishing at 21:36.5. The top three Fairmont individuals were closed by Ellie Drever (22:47.1) in 162nd.
LUVERNE - A handful of Martin County West/Butterfield-Odin cross country athletes competed in this past Saturday's Bruce Gluff Invitational at Luverne High School. Evelynn Christenson was the top Maverick placer on either side. Her 20:32.9 time earned her sixth place. Brody Cook (19:08.4) was the highlight of the boys with his 20th-place finish. Marek Mulder (19:54.7) and Conrad Gwin (20:46.2) placed 31st and 40th, respectively
