Area roundup: Cardinal tennis sweeps Luverne

FAIRMONT: 7, LUVERNE: 0

LUVERNE - The Fairmont tennis team saw another victory when taking a trip to Luverne on Tuesday afternoon, beating the home team 7-0 and bouncing back from its previous defeat to St. James. Fairmont will take on Blue Earth Area on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

Singles

Carly Gustafson took down Sophia Pemme, 6-0, 6-1. Ada Edmundson defeated Cameryn Schepel, 6-1, 6-1. Cadleigh Jobe breezed past Lauren Peters, 6-1, 6-2. Ellena Laven got the upper hand over Autumn DeCesare, 6-3, 6-0.

Doubles

Emelia Klanderud and Allison Slama took down Gracyn Woodley and Lilly Lanoue, 6-0, 6-0. Katherine Zelaya and Addison Toothaker similarly beat Olivia Ver Steeg and Allyssa Evers, 6-0, 6-0. Lexi Haycraft and Malana Nigon thwarted Naima French and Cheyanna Hoffenkamp, 6-1, 6-1.

COMFREY - Martin County West volleyball continued its powerful start to the fall, beating Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey on Tuesday night in three sets - 25-9, 25-21, 25-9 - and moving to 4-0.

Maddie Carlson had 10 kills, while Brynlee Haukos and Jaylee Hanson each had six. Rowan Faber had three aces. Ida Rohman had 25 set assists. Faber had 10 digs. Carlson had six, and Morgan Mccorkel, Rohman, Taylor Hughes and Haukos each had three.

The Mavericks take on Madelia this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Trimont.

BRITT - North Union volleyball has now won two of its past three contests after Tuesday night's 25-19, 25-13, 25-6 win over West Hancock. Samantha Hoye had 19 set assists. Shallie Walders had eight kills, with Aslynn Sobolik getting six. Cloey Anderson notched 10 digs. Ainsley Ulrich had seven digs. The Warriors finished with three blocks.
