Fairmont takes Game One over Bulls

FAIRMONT - The No. 2 Fairmont Martins stamped a Game One victory over the Jackson Bulls on Wednesday night at Herb Wolf Field, beating the No. 6 seed 4-3 in the opening contest of the Region 10C semifinals. Game Two will be back in Jackson this Friday at 7:30 p.m.

Derek Shoen led the Martins with three hits. Eli Anderson and Luke Becker had a double. Joey Crissinger, Zach Jorgenson, and Nolyn Goerndt each got a hit. Fairmont had eight as a team. Josh Smith pitched six innings of one-run baseball. He allowed eight hits and struck out one batter. Jack Hested and Spencer Chirpich threw the final three frames to close things out. Chirpich came into the game for the final two outs to secure the victory.
