NEW ULM -- The Fairmont Martins' Jack Hested and the New Ulm Brewers' Tate Becker had a pitchers' duel on Friday night at Johnson Park, with the Brewers doing just enough at the plate in the eighth to earn the win.

Cole Ranweiler's RBI single in the bottom of the eighth lifted New Ulm to a 1-0 win over Fairmont in a non-league amateur baseball game.

The game was originally to be a seven-inning game, but both team's starting pitchers made it go an extra inning in the end.

Hested completed seven innings and allowed four hits and three walks for one unearned run while striking out four.

Becker pitched eight no-hit innings in the win, walking just one while striking out 15.

Lance Becker had the lone Fairmont walk in the game.

Due to the extra inning coming into play, both teams started with a runner on second. Noel Davila was placed on second to begin the bottom of the eighth before JT Hoffmann was intentionally walked. Ranweiler then singled to left to end the game.
