Area roundup: Warriors sweep trip to Belmond-Klemme

BELMOND – North Union’s late surge of offense pushed past Belmond-Klemme during Wednesday afternoon’s 9-2 victory. It’s the fifth straight game the Warriors (5-1) have won. Aslynn Sobolik, Brylie Deim, Olivia Price and Shallie Walders each had a multi-hit game, with Sobolik’s three base knocks leading the way. Walders and Maisey Bierstedt each had a home run and combined for three RBIs. The Warriors finished the contest with 13 hits, six of those being for extra bases. Ainsley Ulrich tallied 125 pitches over her complete game effort, striking out 13 and allowing four hits. Her earned run average sits at 1.29 over the 38 innings logged.

NU 8, BK 4

BELMOND – North Union’s first three runs of offense were all they needed to fuel its 8-4 Wednesday night victory over Belmond-Klemme. The Warriors (4-3) have now won back-to-back contests for the second time this spring, bouncing back from their previous two-game skid against Okoboji and Forest City. Cole Nicoson had three hits, one of which a double, to bring in five runs. Casey Rezac and Cooper Hoye were the two other Warriors with multi-hit nights. North Union finished with 13 hits. Hoye and Rezac also combined for seven innings on the mound. The two allowed a pair of runs and struck out 10 batters.
