Area roundup: Zarling places second in Redwood Falls

REDWOOD FALLS – The Fairmont boys and girls golf teams competed at the Redwood Falls Golf Club on Thursday afternoon in a four-team, Big South Conference competition. The boys placed third with a team score of 360, trailing Redwood Valley (344) and New Ulm (307). For the girls, their team score of 399 was good for second, behind Redwood Valley, which shot two strokes better with 397. St. Peter was third with a 406.
Hudson McKean was Fairmont’s top scorer after shooting an 83 to get seventh place individually. Tyson McKean was six strokes behind, placing 11th. Luke Haefner shot a 93, while Aaron Becker had a 95. Willy Larson finished with a 101, and Ryan Szafryk had a 110.
It was Leslie Zarling who had another strong afternoon on the links for Fairmont. Her 92 placed first on the team and second individually. Katherine Zelaya had a 101, which was good for seventh. Carly Gustafson shot a 102, and Ingrid Edman finished with a 104.
MADELIA – The Granada Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther boys and girls golf teams were in Madelia on Thursday afternoon, competing at the Madelia Golf Club. The boys finished with a 191, while the girls shot a 226, respectively.
Charlotte Berhow had another first-place individual finish with her score of 47. Phoebe Madsen notched a 58 for sixth, while Meredith Miller placed seventh with a 59. Addyson Wiederhoeft shot a 62, good for ninth.
Gavin Kester got third individually with his 42. Logan Zimmer broke 50 with his score of 48 being good enough for a ninth-place finish. Jevin Garry had a 49, while Keagan Berhow shot a 52.
