Cyclones control Class A of Sentinel Relays

FAIRMONT – The Class A portion of the 70th Fairmont Sentinel Relays fell completely in the hands of St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran. The Cyclone boys and girls each took home the team title by at least 45 points, showcasing their skills and talents throughout the afternoon.

St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran’s boys team grinded past North Union, scoring 178 points to the Warriors’ 132. For the girls, Fairmont was the closest opponent to reach first place in the standings, but the home team’s 127 points were no match for the Cyclones’ 217.

Here are the top finishes from all of the Fairmont Sentinel’s local area teams.

 

Fairmont

Devin Hanson, Cole Hanson, Michael Hamlet and Evan Reyelts started the meet strong with their second-place finish in the 4 by 800 for boys, trailing just Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey.

Madi Thompson got third in her 100-meter dash run, while Takhyla Harvey got fifth. Cole Brockman got fifth for the boys in the same event with his time of 12.08.

Alexis Fuller, Raelynn Meyerdirk, Madisyn Javers and Vaedah Werner go third in the 4 by 200 behind North Union and St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran. The boys’ team also got third behind those two respective schools.

Jaxton Lamont got second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.87. Sophia Streit and Amiyah Dunn got third and fourth, respectively. Streit’s time was a personal best finish of 52.55.

Liliana Hill, Takhyla Harvey, Fuller and Emersen Jackson got first place in the 4 by 100 meter sprint relay. They outdueled St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran by less than a second to get the victory.

Lamont, Carmyne Hecht, Reyelts and Cooper Gudahl finish off the relays with a second-place finish in the 4 by 400 meter sprint relay race, the last event of the night.

Jadyn Montgomery notched a personal best on the girls’ high jump after reaching 4-07.00. She got second behind Kate Daly from St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran, who reached 5-01.00 with her leap.

Seth Siebring got third in the boys’ long jump. His 18-08.00 was a personal best mark for the senior. Montgomery and Jackson got second and third in the girls’ triple jump, reaching distances of 31-01.75 and 31-01.50, respectively.

 

Martin County West

The Mavericks 4-by-800 girls team had a great showing on the track. Sandy Tomas, Kate Swanson, Inga Olson and Evelynn Christenson took second behind St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran.

Another girls’ relay team found success later in the meet in the 1600-meter SMR. Paige Hartwig, Hannah Cole and Bree Paris started things off for the Mavericks before distance runner Christenson took them to a second-place finish.

Mylee Larson continued to stay consistent in the throws for the MCW girls. She placed first in the shot put with a distance of 31-10.50, and second in the discus after her personal best throw of 101-01 fell only behind Alabama Hoonhorst from Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda.

Cole continued things in the field events after her dashing performance on the long jump. Her personal best leap of 14-09.50 was lost to only Brooklin Hinze from St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran. Lixon Forsberg also placed second on the boys’ side and marked another personal best, reaching 18-09.00.

 

GHEC/T/ML

Londyn Bowers had an amazing day in her short-distance sprints of 100 and 200 meters. Bowers took home both crowns with her, beating Trinity Reynolds from Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in the first, then taking down Fairmont’s Madi Thompson in the 200. Thompson got third in the 100 with a time of 13.61.

Another short distance runner for GHEC/T/ML was Rylan Rodgers for the boys. Rodgers notched a second-place finish in the 100 with a time of 11.92.

Vaughn Thompson was another first-place winner for head coach Alex Roorda and his Jaguars. The hurdle specialist outlasted Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda’s Jordan Vortherms to win first place in the 110-meter hurdles. Thompson would later place third in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.92.

Rodgers and Thompson would team up with Jacob Mattson and Jaxson Bellecourt in the 4 by 100-meter relay. The quartet recorded a season-best time of 46.69, good for third behind North Union and St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran.

Lynsie Salic stayed consistent for the GHEC/T/ML girl throwers. Salic finished third in both shot put and discus events, reaching a distance of 94-00 in the ladder. Mattson got the final first-place achievement in his triple jump routine. The freshman leaped beyond Hunter Winkler with a mark of 39-10, taking home the crown.

 

North Union

The Warriors’ 4 by 800-meter relay team was sharp on the boys’ side to begin the afternoon. Drake Nelsen, Castor Kollasch, Lane Engelby and Donnie Stevens placed third in the events behind Fairmont and Mt. Lake Area-Comfrey.

Cloey Anderson was sharp on her leaping ability during the 100-meter hurdles. She placed second in the event behind Trinity Reynolds with a time of 17.54.

Samantha Hoye, Brylie Deim, Briley Henriksen and Adeline Kollasch outpaced Fairmont in the girls’ 4 by 200-meter relay. The group, which secured a time of 2:01.07, placed just behind St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran.

The boys had similar success on their side of the event. Brekkyn Morphew, Kade Madden, Casey Rezac and Carson Crouch narrowly defeated the Cardinals by 0.11 seconds, but ultimately fell to St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran.

Greyson Colegrove lit up the track during his 300-meter hurdles run. Colegrove placed first by a full second, finishing with a 44.51 that was not only good for first, but a personal best. He continued his success in the short distance during the 200. With another personal best time, Colegrove’s 24.06 got second behind Oliver Schull from St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran. Another North Union runner, Gabe Whaley, got third behind Colegrove.

The Warrior girls got third in the 4 by 100, while the boys got second. Highlighting the girls’ team was Anderson, Peyton Jenkins, Samantha Hoye and Deim, who finished in third place. The boys had a little more success on their respective ends. Crouch, Colegrove, Whaley and Cooper Hoye finished behind St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran with their time of 45.42.

It was an outstanding finish for North Union on the track during the 4 by 400-meter relay. Rezac, Cooper Hoye, Taylin Jones and Aiden Bauer took home the crown with their season-best time of 3:45.58.

In the field events, Hunter Geitzenauer was impressive in the boys’ throws. Geitzenauer got second in both shot put and discus. His discus toss of 118-00 was slightly behind Jack Roemhildt from St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran.

Max Heinen took home the title in the boys’ high jump after breaking the six-foot threshold and defeating Wyatt Lien from St. Clair/Imannuel Lutheran.

Colegrove added another top podium finish to his day after his showing on the long jump. He secured a personal best mark of 21-03.00 to outduel Forsberg.
