Weekend recap: Cardinals dominate in St. Clair
Both the boys and girls Fairmont track and field teams took home first-place team finishes in the St. Clair JV Invite this past Saturday at the St. Clair High School Track. The boys recorded a 197, while the girls finished with a 243. The day was highlighted with two additions to the school record’s top 10. Addison Folkerts is now eighth all-time in discus after her mark of 111′ 4″, while Jadyn Montgomery is now tied for seventh in pole vault with her height of 9′ 6″.
Mollie Leiding and Addison Toothaker got first and second in the 100-meter dash. Toothaker’s 13.46 was a personal best. Tavian Harvey got second for the boys with his 11.76. Harvey and Leiding highlighted the 200-meter dash as well. Leiding took home another first-place finish, followed by Nathaliah Johnson and Madi Thompson. Harvey again got second, behind Oliver Schull from St. Clair. Brier Lenort got second in the 400-meter dash while Harlee Fastnacht got third. Cole Hanson and Michael Hamlet each had personal best times in the 800, which were good for first and third-place finishes. Carter Hanson got second in the 1600-meter run while Carmyne Hecht set a personal best in the 3200-meter run, 10:47.71, to get first place. Dakota Wiley got first place in the 110-meter hurdles. A personal best time of 17.07. Out of all of the boys relay teams, the 4 by 200, 4 by 400 and 4 by 800 all got first place. For the girls, it was the 4 by 100, 4 by 200, and 4 by 400. Folkert swept the competition after earning first-place marks in shot put and discus. Caine Gronewold got second in discus. Jase Meade and Montgomery got second in the pole vault. Montgomery also got first place in the triple jump. Tyrheek Harvey and Kayden Gerhardt got third and fourth in the long jump.
