Area roundup: MCW softball routes Mt. Lake

MCW 15, MOUNTAIN LAKE 0
WELCOME – The Martin County West softball team scored a run in every trip to the plate to beat Mountain Lake 15-0 through five innings. The Mavericks are now 3-0 on the year, outsourcing opponents by 31 runs.
Rowan Faber and Ida Rohman each knocked out a home run to combine for six RBI and five hits. Addy Wohlhuter went 3 for 3 from the plate while scoring three runs. Maddie Carlson had a 3-run triple in the second inning, while Bailey Larson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
Carlson got the start for the Mavericks and was sharp once again. She finished with seven strikeouts and zero walks allowed.
MCW will take on Madelia this Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
PREP BASEBALL
LUVERNE 6, FAIRMONT 1
FAIRMONT – A 4-run fifth inning proved to be the difference-maker during Luverne’s 6-1 victory over Fairmont on Monday afternoon at Herb Wolf Field.
Merritt Pomerenke’s RBI double proved to be the lone Cardinal score in the second inning.
Mason Bicknase got the start for Fairmont, going four and one-third innings and allowing five runs. Joey Crissinger finished the game in relief, striking out three batters.
Fairmont ended the contest with eight hits compared to Luverne’s nine.
Fairmont will take on Blue Earth Area on Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
