Four events placed in Cardinal record books
MANKATO – The Fairmont track team competed in the MSU Varsity Showcase this past Saturday at the Minnesota State University – Mankato Indoor Track. The Cardinals set new Indoor School Records in four events during their performance, two in pole vault and two in relays.
Jase Meade’s 12’6″ on the pole vault was good for the 10th-best in the meet behind Edina’s Nathan Grill and Luke Deangelo. Ellie Perkins finished in third place with her 11’0″. Both athletes’ scores marked personal bests.
The boys’ 4 by 800 team, consisting of Carter Hanson, Jordan Thompson, Cooper Gudahl, and Brier Lenort, finished fourth out of 10 teams with a time of 8:29.91. Nathaliah Johnson, Addison Toothaker, Emelia Klanderud and Mollie Leiding charged the girls 4 by 200 team to a time of 1:52.45, good for sixth place behind North Branch Area.
Tavian Harvey got 12th (7.31) and 16th (24.19) in the 60 and 200-meter runs. Dakota Wiley earned 11th in the 400 after recording a 53.97, while Brier Lenort was one spot behind with his 54.57. Devin Hanson finished 21st in the 1600 with a time of 4:52.79. Gudahl got 28th. Tyler Bicknase’s shot put throw of 44’1″ was good for 14th at shot put. Harvey’s 5’10” on high jump was tied with five other scores.
Leiding got 12th in her individual 200-meter run with a time of 27.54, while Johnson got 34th. Madi Thompson earned 15th in the 400 after notching a 1:04.35. Addison Folkerts recorded a 30′ 9.75 on her shot put performance for 14th place, while Klanderud got 19th in high jump.
Fairmont will be back in action on Tuesday at Bob Bonk Track, starting at 4 p.m.
