Cardinals shine in Old SCC Track Meet at MSU

MANKATO — The Fairmont boys and girls varsity track and field teams had a hot start to the new season Friday in the Old SCC Indoor Track Meet, with the boys finishing first and girls taking second at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
The Fairmont boys finished with a score of 168.83, ahead of St. Peter (87.33), St. James/Madelia (65.33), New Ulm (49.5) and Blue Earth Area (39). The St. Peter girls took first with a score of 189.5, ahead of Fairmont (146), St. James/Madelia (51), BEA (46) and New Ulm (18.5).
The Fairmont girls team placed second (146), just behind St. Peter (189.5) and ahead of SJM (51), BEA (46) and New Ulm (18.5).
For the boys, Tavian Harvey tied for first in the 60-meter dash (7.3) and won the 200-meter dash (24.7) while placing second in high jump (5-10). Cooper Gudahl placed second in the 800 (2:16.0), while Devin Hanson placed second in the 1,600 (5:01.0). Tyler Bicknase placed second in shot put (41-9.5), and Tytan Tumbleson won the long jump (19-4.25) and the triple jump (26-3) and placed third in high jump (5-6). Jase Meade took second in pole vault (11-6), and Kayden Gerhardt placed third in long jump (17-7.25). Camryne Hecht placed second in triple jump (25-2.5). The Fairmont 4×400 relay team of Dakota Wiley, Jordan Thompson, Carter Hanson and Breier Lenort placed first, as did the SMR 1,600-meter relay team of Keydon Schultz, Ethan Siebring, Thompson and Lenort.

For the girls, Nathaliah Johnson tied for second in the 60 (8.4) and took second in the 200 (29.3), while Madi Thompson won the 400 (1:05.0), with Amiya Dunn taking third (1:08.7). Adylen Laven placed third in the 60-meter hurdles (10.8), while Addison Folkerts took third in the shot put (30-6). Ellie Perkins placed first in pole vault (10-0), and Harlee Fastnacht (30-10) and Emersen Jackson (30-0) took second and third, respectively, in triple jump. The Fairmont 4×200 relay team of Johnson, Addison Toothaker, Emelia Klanderud and Mollie Leiding took first (1:55.0).
