Rohman earns spot in championship bout

ST. PAUL – Martin County Red Bull wrestler Pierce Rohman picked up two victories during Friday’s portion of the MSHSL Individual State Tournament at the Grand Casino Arena to advance to the 133-pound championship match.
Rohman (133 lbs) started his day right with his second tech fall victory of the tournament over Samuel Moore from Zumbrota-Mazeppa. He faced Nolan Fettig from Alexandria Area in the semifinals. Rohman bested Fettig in a 7-1 decision. He will face Jackson Refsnider from Totino-Grace on Saturday afternoon.
Torrey Paplow (152 lbs) won his first bout of the day via decision, 9-7, in the quarterfinals over Noah Cameron from Little Falls. He fell in the following round to Watertown Mayer-Mayer Lutheran’s Kaleb Mead in a 10-8 decision. Paplow can still finish in third during Saturday’s wrestlebacks.
Aaron Becker (215 lbs) lost his quarterfinal match against Tristan Zingler from Cannon Falls via fall. The freshman lost his second match of the day to St. Peter’s Joseph Connor via fall.
DJ Miller (285 lbs) picked up a 5-0 decision victory in the opening round of wrestlebacks against Matt Raboin from Chisago Lakes. He fell in his second match of the day to Kemper Ely from St. Peter via fall.
Kate Kolbe (142 lbs) was eliminated after her first bout of the day, losing to Cora Flinsch from Roseville Area.
