ST. PETER – Morgan Mathiowetz scored 39 points to lead Sleepy Eye Saint Mary’s past Granada Huntley East Chain/Truman/Martin Luther 96-43 during Thursday night’s Section 2A Girls Basketball Tournament matchup.

Keira Benck led the Jaguars with 14 points and four rebounds. Londyn Bowers had seven points, three rebounds, one assist and one block. Addison Nowicki had four points.

WRESTLING

ST. PAUL – Three Martin County Red Bull wrestlers won their first round matchups during Thursday’s MSHSL Individual State Tournament at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul.

Pierce Roham (133 lbs) and Torrey Paplow (152 lbs) earned tech-fall victories to open their outings. Rohman topped Luke Schultz from Scott West, while Paplow beat Landon Bizal from Totino-Grace. Aaron Becker (215 lbs) picked up a hard-fought 4-3 decision victory over Tyler Thilges from Mankato East.

DJ Miller (285 lbs) and Kate Kolbe (142 lbs) lost via fall to Xander Plath from Glencoe-Lester Prairie and Arianna Halbert from Brainerd.
