Area roundup: Red Bulls send four wrestlers to state

WRESTLING
HUTCHINSON – The Martin County Area Red Bulls sent four players to the 2026 Minnesota State High School League Individual State Tournament.
Pierce Rohman (133 lbs) earned two more tech fall wins in the semifinal and championship rounds, beating New Ulm’s Kane Johnson to earn the top podium finish. Torrey Paplow (152 lbs) was the other Red Bull to earn first place after muscling past Braxton Kiecker from New Ulm in a 103 decision victory. Aaron Becker (215 lbs) and DJ Miller (285 lbs) both had to bounce back from championship round losses to earn their tickets to state. After dropping to Michael Markgraf from Hutchinson, Becker rebounded with a fall victory past New Ulm’s Dirk Haynes. Miller defeated New-London Spicer’s Garret Leenstra in the second-place bout after falling to Mason Adams from Lake Crystal Wellcome Memorial.
GYMNASTICS
ST. PAUL – Martin County Area gymnast Lillie Schultz finished her season strong after placing 24th on uneven bars in the 2026 Individual Class A State Tournament this past weekend. Schultz improved from her appearance in state last season after getting a score of 8.3 on the same apparatus. She placed 29th the year prior with a score of 8.175.
